Hey there!

Welcome to my blog. My name is Summer and I love to share my adventures in marriage, beauty, style, home and travel. I hope you feel inspired!

How to simplify your resort wear wardrobe.

What do you think of when I say “Bermuda, Bahama, Come on Pretty Mama!”….other than the classic Beach Boys 80’s hit, Kokomo? Well, I for one, think of white sand beaches, warm summer sun, misty night air, fresh fruity cocktails and plenty of dancing, splashing and relaxing by the water. Please tell me I’m not the only one??

If you’re headed to a tropical destination anytime soon, YOU NEED TO READ THIS!

I’ve collected a decent mix of resort outfits and beach wear over the years of traveling. My absolute favorite finds have been at boho chic boutiques tucked inside small Mexican towns. Tulum for example, has a street lined with treasure hunting, all the bikinis, sandals, beach coverups and home decor you can imagine! Sayulita was another amazing destination for finding local emerging designers and brands, pieces you cannot find here in the states.

So what exactly defines “Resort Wear” ? To be honest, I’m not sure… so I’ll just give you my definition and hopefully we can align on that and get you geared up for some tropical traveling!

So what exactly defines“Resort Wear”?

These are the key words I would choose to describe “Resort Wear”…

1) breathable

2) effortless

3) flowy

4) bold earth tones

5) flirty

6) boho

7) luxury

So where’s my breathable, effortless, flowy, bold earth tone, flirty, boho, luxury outfit loving friends at…

Now I do need to mention, that I ALWAYS bring a couple pairs of denim shorts and basic t-shirts with me, for unexpected outings. Sometimes, I just need to be in denim, something that feels a bit more structured and supportive. This doesn’t really relate to this convo, so let’s hold off on that rabbit trail for now.

Maxi Dresses:

A mix of solid earth tones and bold patterns. The material should be flowy, breathable, versatile (can be worn with flats or platforms). The variety of maxi dresses below are can take you from day to night….

Rompers:

Lightweight linens and cottons are ideal fabrics for hot weather or humid climates. I personally prefer a cotton over linen, it feels softer on my skin. But I absolutely LOVE the look of linen. Below are some romper options that can be worn as a coverup or paired with a simple white tank top or t-shirt.

Cotton Basics:

Simply put…every person needs an inventory of good cotton shirts, tanks and shorts or trousers. I like to travel in cotton pants (jogger or trouser style), because they are so versatile! Check out these selections and make sure you add this to your wardrobe!

Don’t forget to let me know what you think about these selections in the comments below!!

Happy shopping!!
